Here in this northern area of Spring we have not had many amenities so we were thrilled to see Village Automotive open. One of the automotive services that I have enjoyed is their free customer shuttle. I can drop my car off for an oil change or state inspection and they will bring me back to my home office. When my car is finished they give me a call and pick me back up. What a time saver that has been for me. No longer do I have to sit in sterile waiting rooms waiting for my car to be ready. Although if you have noticed the pictures that I have posted; their waiting room is far from sterile.

Lake Windcrest in Magnolia TX

Lake Windcrest, Magnolia TX one of Magnolia’s premier country golf communities is located off of 1488, a few miles to the west of FM 2978. As the name proclaims Lake Windcrest has lakes for the use of its residents. There are also parks available for the residents enjoyment. Lake Windcrest has lot sizes from 1 Acre to 5 Acres. There are golf course lots and lakefront lots scattered throughout the community. This is also a perfect place to have your horses. There are many lots that have 4 to 5 acres. If you enjoy a subdivision with trees there are towering pine trees and hardwoods throughout the subdivision.

Home prices range from $250,000 to $900,000. Square footage ranges from a low of around 2100 square feet to homes with 5500 square feet+. Homes were built from 1996 to the present. The majority appear to be built after the year 2000.

Lake Windcrest boast an 18 hole public golf course. According to the golf course finder this course is one of the best

values in Northwest Houston. Each of the 18 holes offers a different challenge. There’s a complete pro shop located at the clubhouse.

The clubhouse has recently been renovated. The dining area was enlarged, carpet was replaced, furniture was updated and new plasma televisions were added. The kitchen has been improved with additional equipment which will help to expand its functionality. The outdoor patio also received an uplift with new furniture and stonework.

Lake Windcrest has an active home owners association but the deed restrictions are typical for country subdivisions. For instance you may keep a travel trailer, boat or RV in your front yard. You may have one horse per acre if you are considering the equestrian aspect.

If you are looking for a premier country subdivision that is a decent drive to Houston or IAH then this may be the place for you. Just a few miles away (on the corner of FM 1488 & FM 2878) at the Magnolia Parkway section of Magnolis there’s Signature Kroger along with a Target, Ross, Office Max, Petsmart etc. etc. That’s not even to mention all the wonderful restaurants. My favorite is the Eden Cafe; you get homecooked meals in an enjoyable atmoshere. As an added benefit you can be shopping or eating in The Woodlands within 15 to 20 minutes.

Preserving Trees in Tomball TX

One of the many things that I love about Tomball TX are the trees. It has amazed me at the imaginative ways the trees have been preserved.

For instance if you notice the picture with the two large trees and the picnic tables. This is in the Wal-mart parking lot. This park is not built to the side of the parking lot it is in the middle of the parking lot. There is parking on either side and you can drive in front also.

If you also notice the tree with the building built around it. That is the local Wood Forest Bank in Tomball. They built their bank around this tree. I am in Tomball Business and Professional Women and when I was on the board we would have our board meeting in their Conference Room. The Conference Room looks out at this tree.

The cougar tree was a casualty from Hurricane Ike. I wrote an entire post around the Cougar tree if you would like more information. The artist who carved the tree is Master Wood Carver Nathan Smith, a local Tomball artist. He carved two cougars in a rocky cliff setting out of this fallen oak tree. Yes, the cougars are in recognition of The Tomball Cougars.

The local Tomball ball park was also built around a tree. The tree of course provides a lot of shade to stand under and watch the game.

You can also see how the utility company preserves the trees by cutting the branches around the line instead of chopping the tree down.

Please realize this is just normal people doing this. There are not any town restrictions that say you must keep your trees. These pictures were all taken in the City Limits of Tomball. Tomball the hometown with a heart was going green before it was popular to go green.
